As anyone will tell you, crafts are an addiction of mine. I love doing crafts, especially bath and body crafts, or kid-aimed crafts. I don't know if it's the kid in me, or if it's just practice for Mommyhood, but I can't get enough of crafting.
One of my favorites is this really neat bubble bath that's actually like Jello. I've made it for years for my nieces for their birthdays. It's always such a hit with the preteen set!
Jello Bath
3/4 cup of water
1 Packet of unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup of baby bubble bath
Food Coloring, if desired
1/8 to 1/4 tsp. fragrance oils, essential oils, or even extracts
Plastic storage jar with lid, or glass jam jars
Boil the water using a kettle or saucepan, and carefully pour it into a mixing bowl. Add the gelatin, and stir until it dissolves completely. Mix in the baby bath soap, and add the fragrence oils. Stir until mixed, but stir slowly so as to not create bubbles. When mixed, pour into the clean storage container and allow it to set 4 hours, or overnight.
To use, scoop out some Jello with a spoon and add it to running bath water. The Jello lasts for about a month. Discard it if you notice the growth of mold.
One of my favorite things to do is to add a little trinket to the Bath Jello after it's been poured into the storage container, but before it sets. Little things like gemstones or silk flowers or small toys or jewelry (like a cheapo ring or bracelet) really customize the Jello, and it gives the kiddos something to be psyched about.
A word of warning though... Use the unflavored Jello when you make this gel, unless you're fond of a fancy colored tub and oddly colored children. One of my girlfriends did this with her daughter using blue raspberry Jello... Her daughter looked like a Smurf, and her tub was the prettiest shade of pale blue.

what an awesome idea! i should dig out some of my old bath salt recipes and get them back in rotation... :)
Holy cow, if you'd do that, I'd be in heaven. I *love* those kids of things. Have you seen the entry about my Margarita Scrub? If you haven't tried it yet, I command you to go try it now. LOL!
What a neat idea! LOL at the colored jello results!
What a great idea! I might use the blue raspberry on purpose. My daughter looks smashing in blue, and I always loved the Smurfs. :)
I am going to have to loop up your margarita scrub. I am all about making my own bath salts and beauty products. Thanks for this cute idea!
